About me

Magdalena

Born in Kraków, in love with this city, a cyclist.

I was born in Kraków and, apart from a few years in other cities, I have lived here all my life. I know it from the pavement and from the saddle: I cycle to work, to the shops, to the Błonia meadow with a book and on weekend trips to Tyniec, Ojców or the Niepołomice Forest. Kraków has the reputation of a city to be explored on foot, and that is true, but beyond the Planty a second city begins, and it is best seen from a bicycle.

This site started as notes for friends who came to visit and asked what to see beyond the Market Square. In time the notes turned into articles, into the legends my grandmother told me, and into two apps: a walking one with seven routes and a cycling one with seven trips. Both are read by a narrator, both work offline and both are free. I collect no data and show no ads.

I like Kraków early in the morning, before the Market Square wakes up, and Kraków in November, when the Planty turn yellow and there is nobody on the riverbanks. I like obwarzanki from the cart by St Florian's Gate and the view of Wawel from Dębnicki Bridge, which I have seen thousands of times and still slow down for. If any of this is yours too, you are in the right place.

If you find a mistake, have an idea for a route or just want to say hello, write to me. And if the site or the apps helped you in Kraków, you can buy me a coffee; I will drink it on the riverbank.
